National Cherry Blossom Festival

One year I want to go to Washington, D.C. for the National Cherry Blossom Festival.  It's going on right now and will end this Sunday, April 10, 2011.

In 1912, the Mayor of Tokyo gifted 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C. as a gift of friendship.  I couldn't even picture how beautiful it must be.  I can only imagine for now.

04/08/2011 Update - I heard on the radio this morning that they are still having the parade tomorrow - with the Government shutdown they won't be receiving Federal Funds.  However, the organizers were able to keep the parade on schedule.
