Pochibukuro
Once again, it's getting close to New Year's Day and I start thinking of Japanese customs and traditions. Here's a tradition that I've wanted to start with my children, but haven't yet. It's a Japanese custom known as Otoshidama. On New Year's Day you take small decorated envelopes that are called Pochibukuro, fill them with money and give them to children. They come in so many cute and colorful designs. What a nice little surprise for the New Year, don't you think?
